![]() ![]() An ensuing battle resulted in the rock exploding causing Grodd and Flash to become super-intelligent "mental giants" and reducing Hammond and Jordan to cro-magnons. They attacked Hal Jordan, Rex the Wonder Dog and West, and soon managed to locate their target. Grodd later teamed up with Hector Hammond to locate a meteorite which had evolutionary properties. ![]() His plan ultimately failed and he was defeated by Wally West, with the help of Pied Piper and Vixen. In one of his first major post-crisis appearances, Grodd used his telepathy to increase the intelligence of the animals in Central City, enabling them to think logically and become organized. Gorilla Grodd made his first comic book appearance in the pages of Flash #106. Gorilla Grodd was created by John Broome (writer) and Carmine Infantino (artist). At times, he has led a political faction within Gorilla City, sometimes even becoming the dominant force. Often, he has gone to Central City hoping to eliminate the Flash before he could interfere with his plans. Since then, Grodd has spent most of his time imprisoned in Gorilla City, breaking out only when he has a plan ready. His plan to create an army of his fellow gorillas and take over the world was foiled. He succeeded, but ran afoul of the Flash for the first time. Grodd came after him, but not for rescue his intent was to steal Solovar’s secret for controlling others through force of mind. Rather than reveal the existence of Gorilla City, he played dumb and allowed himself to be taken to a Central City circus. On an exploratory mission, their leader Solovar was captured by humans. There they now live, in an advanced society using science far beyond our own, calling the city " Gorilla City". Where it now stands, a meteor (or a spacecraft, depending on the account) crashed during the 19th century its rays imbuing a gorilla tribe with hyper-intelligence and telepathy. ![]() With his genius-level intellect combined with his innate animal savagery and his vast mental abilities, Gorilla Grodd is, ironically, not an enemy to ever be monkeyed with.Deep in the heart of Africa is a city hidden by mountains and illusion. Grodd also plagued the Justice League by joining forces with the likes of the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Legion of Doom and other organizations of super criminals bent on world domination. First coming into conflict with the Barry Allen version of the Flash, Grodd was a thorn in not only his side for many years, but also his successor Wally West’s. But while the rest of his people chose to live apart from the world peacefully, Grodd only sought to conquer humanity so he could rule it. The product of a chance encounter with an alien race, Grodd and his people evolved past the common gorillas who lived in his portion of the African jungle and developed super intelligence, along with a wide array of other mental powers. ![]() Although many of the Flash’s most dangerous Rogues are criminals with gimmicks or evil speedsters, there is one enemy of the Fastest Man Alive who stands apart-the hyper intelligent ape known as Gorilla Grodd.
